The client had clay and dead grass in front yard which lead to water problems down the side of their house. So we came up with a design solution that was both functional and elegant. We installed a flagstone patio with “sangina” placed into the crevices. We continued that same Vancouver Island stone into a random pathway that meanders into the back of the house. The drain rock stopped any potential flooding and is low maintenance. We added three deer resistant “raised garden beds” to balance out the slate . Many of the plants are native to Vancouver Island and deer resistant.
A simple front yard makeover makes our portfolio . On the left hand side we removed all the grass and planted an elegant garden that is deer resistant. The colors of the mulch and the reds of the rhodos matched the exteriors house color. Giving the house and garden a feeling of unity.
We designed and installed this beautiful creation in collaboration with our expert rock mason Tony. After Tony laid down his masonry magic, we landscaped it off with rocks down the side. The beds were filled with shade loving lush plants. Banana ferns, creeping dogwood, ligularia, taro, fatsia, bleeding heart, salal, hosta, sword ferns, mini rhodendrons, painted ferns. After two years growth, the plants have began to overfill in the beds creating a soft lush feel to the design.
In this particular landscape the client had a small side yard filled with weeds, mulch and an old stonewall. Our solution was to use 30 full cedar wood planks that were hidden under the gravel. They were recycled into this gorgeous wooden border which snuggled up nicely along the fence. Shade tolerant plants were added with maroons and limes as the color theme.
